John Konyn came to Southern California from Holland via Ellis Island in the 1950s. His job bottling milk for a dairyman in Los Angeles eventually led him to open his own family business in Valley Center—the Konyn Dairy. For decades, Konyn Dairy was a landmark business in Valley Center. But once the family patriarch passed, the Konyn family decided to close the farm in 2008 and put the land up for sale.
